Chris Schmiege

Chris Schmiege is a Forest Utilization Specialist with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). Prior to joining the DNR, Chris worked for approximately 15 years with the Florida Forest Service. Serving in roles as forest inventory and analysis coordinator, wildland fire supervisor, and state lands forester. Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in forestry from Michigan Technological University and has extensive professional training in wildland fire and forest management. Chris is a Michigan native, growing up in the Kalamazoo area. He currently resides in East Lansing with his wife, son, and dog.
