Lignin

Lignin describes a group of aromatic polymers generated from biobased sources
including plants and wood. Many times lignin is considered a byproduct of pulp and
paper manufacturing and is incinerated for energy generation; however, lignin's
attributes, including but not limited to antimicrobial properties and fire resistance,
make the material a very interesting source for many higher value applications.
